On the other hand, it is also in favour of keeping the doors of higher education open to selected talented students. Our belief is that after 10 years of general education, 80% of students must be imparted professional/ vocational education. The provision of professional education in sarvodya seva semiti after ten years of general education is a step in this direction only. For the real success of vocational education, the dignity of physical labour has to be ingrained in the minds of the learner repeatedly at every level of education.
India is a country of villages. Therefore, without an all-round development of the villages, development is not possible. JNU Foundation has linked education with rural development echoing its aim ; "Education for rural development". It is from this point of view that sarvodya seva semiti has ever been doing development work in the nearby 53 villages. It was founded on the basis of Gandhian ideals of rural development.
The values of equality and social justice cannot be established in society without upliftment of the weaker and oppressed sections. Therefore, social welfare through education is also an important agenda in our educational plans. It is with this objective in view that sarvodya seva semiti has made special arrangements for education and training of destitute boys & girls, women, and also students belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.
To sum up, education at sarvodya seva semiti is six faceted : value oriented, coordination oriented, vocation oriented, life oriented, rural development oriented and social-welfare oriented.
